Increasingly, businesses seek meaningful volunteer opportunities for their employees, and in many cases, corporate grantmaking is linked to volunteerism. While an influx of skilled and motivated employee volunteers can be an invaluable resource to nonprofit organizations, corporate volunteer managers recognize that designing that “perfect” volunteer opportunity that meets both the nonprofit and business needs can be challenging. This session provides a behind-the-scenes look at how corporate volunteer programs are structured, an overview of trends in workplace volunteerism and examples of successful volunteer partnerships.

First Ever CVC-TC Corporate Month of Service Volunteer Project

CVC members will be assisting both Great River Greening and the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department by planting native shrubs and plants in the northeast section of Indian Mounds Park. In addition to seeing the effects of their efforts immediately, volunteers will be briefed on the environmental impact of their work by Great River Greening Environmentalists.

Dr. Craig Helmstetter is the lead researcher on the Twin Cities Compass team, and he will use the list of (community) areas of focus from CVC-TC corporate and associate members to help us all discover new ways for volunteers to improve quality of life in the Twin Cities. Hands On Twin Cities Volunteer Expo

Hands On Twin Cities and Mall of America are teaming up again to showcase hundreds of volunteer opportunities at more than 100 nonprofit and community based organizations. Visit Mall of America on Saturday, February 23, 2008 to find a volunteer opportunity for yourself, your family, your friends, or your coworkers.

Organizations at the Expo focus on a variety of issues, including youth and families, education, seniors, health and wellness, animals, environmental initiatives and basic needs such as food, housing, transportation and jobs.

Visitors to the Expo will also have the opportunity to participate in a “speed volunteering” event right at the mall, enjoy programming in the Rotunda and watch the Be The Change Award presentations.
