New CVC Membership Benefit Piloted by Boston Scientific

Corporate Volunteerism Council–Twin Cities (CVC-TC) recently completed a pilot consulting project with Boston Scientific to assess its Twin Cities corporate volunteer program and test the model as a potential CVC-TC member benefit. The project yielded positive outcomes for both organizations and will be offered in 2010 to four member companies.

The consultation began with a needs assessment of the company’s strengths and opportunities for volunteer and community relations programming. The consulting team included a corporate board member and partner organizations HandsOn Twin Cities and MAP for Nonprofits, which provided expertise in their respective areas, including measuring outcomes, volunteer program management and executive board placement. After a series of consultations with the community relations and local foundation staff at Boston Scientific, the team presented a final report of recommendations and resources, including specific benchmarks and opportunities to meet with CVC-TC companies with similar organizational challenges and opportunities. HandsOn and MAP offered discounted services and additional consultation with Boston Scientific executives and nonprofit partners.
