Boston Scientific Supports STEM Through Storytelling

As a global medical technology leader for more than 35 years, CVC-TC member company Boston Scientific understands the value of supporting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and inspiring the next generation of future innovators that companies like ours will rely on for years to come. To help bring awareness to the increasing demand for STEM skills – and to celebrate our employees’ global outreach efforts – we recently kicked off our second annual STEMtember social media campaign.

Using the hashtag #STEMtember, the campaign includes a series of internal employee communications to help spark excitement and interest in volunteering, as well as several posts throughout the month on Facebook , LinkedIn and Twitter. Social media content includes featured events, employee spotlights, infographics and sharing of our recently released Boston Scientific STEM Virtual Field Trip video.

Here in Minnesota, Boston Scientific’s K-12 STEM outreach is led by a group of dedicated employees who serve on our STEM Council. Since 2009, our local STEM Council has had a mission of fueling STEM aspiration, ability and access by inspiring economically disadvantaged students and those who are under-represented in STEM careers to see themselves as future scientists, engineers, computer scientists or other STEM professionals. Much of this outreach is focused on the communities of Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and North Minneapolis, though Boston Scientific STEM volunteers can often be found around the Twin Cities visiting classrooms, supporting robotics teams, or exhibiting at events like STEM Day at the State Fair.

We invite other CVC-TC members to follow our STEMtember campaign on social media and join us in supporting STEM education in our local communities.
