Each year the community comes together to make the holidays brighter for families experiencing homelessness. Individuals and groups from across the Twin Cities metro donate hundreds of toys for families living at People Serving People’s emergency shelter in Minneapolis. Many groups donate year after year.
A special thank you to US Bank, Xcel, the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Truckers Association, Connect To Care, Central Roofing, Cynthia Froid Group for their support. These community donations make it possible for shelter staff and volunteers to operate a toy shop, which provides gifts for each child living at the shelter.
Thanks to the outpouring of donations received this year, each family in shelter received several toys per child, as well as gifts for the parents! We would also like to thank Cargill for adopting families who are staying in our supportive housing apartments.
Additionally, this year The Kirk and Julie Cousins Foundation made a generous donation that will go directly to the families living in shelter at People Serving People for the holidays. This donation empowers parents to choose personalized gifts for their family. The staff at People Serving People is incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our community during this especially difficult year.
