Background
Starting September 6, you were invited to join the second annual edition of the Corporate Volunteerism Council
- Twin Cities (CVC-TC) Twitter Book Club to share thoughts on monthly readings in the field of corporate
social responsibility (CSR) and volunteerism. This initiative was developed in response to member interest in
making stronger and deeper connections within the CVC-TC network and to promote sharing ideas outside
formal channels. You were encouraged to look at our work from the viewpoint of all sectors: public, private and
nonprofit.
Our 2016 #CVCTCbookclub topic is aligned with our CVC-TC theme for the year: Diversity and Inclusion.

• ONLINE: Each month (September through November), the #CVCTCbookclub will feature a chapter-length
reading from a recent thought-provoking book or magazine. The book club moderator will kick off the
discussion, engage the author(s) via Twitter, and generally help keep the conversation going throughout the
month. Book club members are encouraged to share their thoughts, pros, cons, and ah-ha moments via Twitter—
similar to an in-person book club.
• IRL (in real life): Once a year, in January, the book club will have the chance to meet IRL to share thoughts
and map their learning on both a collaborative and individual mind map. The goal is to spur imagination and
inspire action while deepening connectedness.
