Please join the CVC-TC for a volunteer event on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Reading Partners' new office in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul. We'll follow volunteering with happy hour nearby at the Dubliner for networking and fun. Anyone signing up for this event by August 14 will revive two tickets to the August 20 Twins game! Registered volunteers will receive tickets in the mail.
Did you know that in the Twin Cities only 24% of low income elementary students are reading on grade level? And if they're are not skilled readers before they move on to middle school they are four times more likely to drop out of high school.
Reading Partners, a proven, national literacy organization, launched in our community two years ago to support these students to ensure they have the reading skills they need to succeed. This year they are partnering with thirteen of the most challenged schools in Minneapolis and St. Paul, engaging community volunteers to deliver individualized instruction with measurable results. The summer is busy at Reading Partners as they prepare student materials for the school year and they need our help!
Note: To access any members-only materials for this event, you must be logged in and a current member of CVC-TC.
