Volunteer Opportunities: Hammer Residences

Hammer Residences has created a new volunteer program called “Cooks in the Kitchen”. We are inviting small groups of 4 to 6 volunteers to cook two recipes at a time in our Central Office kitchen in Wayzata, MN.

These two meals are then distributed to four of our homes which are often short staffed. Having prepared meals available allow the staff at the homes more time to focus on the personal care and needs of the individuals living there. Recipes, groceries, and supplies are all provided. Hammer Central Office employees piloted the program by testing out the recipes. The homes just loved the meals!

We are currently hosting organizations on Tuesdays, either from 9:00am-1:00pm, or 1:00pm to 5:00pm. This includes prep, cooking, packaging and clean up. It may not take that long, but I like to manage expectations!

COVID protocols at our office include signing in, taking your temperature, and wearing a mask in the common areas of the building. The kitchen will only be used by the Cooks in the Kitchen volunteers, so there will be minimum exposure to other employees.

If you would like more information about “Cooks in the Kitchen”, and how you can participate, please contact Cathy Thoma, CVA at [email protected] or at 952-345-8554
