Versique Consulting & Search, one of the leading talent acquisition firms in the Midwest, has been an active member of CVC-TC for a number of years. Versique’s core values, driven by co-founders Tony Sorensen and Chris Ohlendorf, include Community, Collaboration, Continuous Improvement, and Competition. The core value “Community” is based on the company’s common goal of giving back to those around them—financially and through time, energy, and skill sets. To facilitate this, Versique created an internal Volunteer Committee, which plans quarterly volunteer opportunities and a variety of impromptu giving opportunities throughout the year.
As an example, Versique has enjoyed partnering with Dress for Success Twin Cities* for a number of years to host an annual two-week-long clothing drive, which culminates in a happy hour celebration with Versique’s employees, families, sponsors, community members, and friends—all for the purpose of providing Dress for Success with additional exposure and community support. The last drive resulted in the collection of more than 90 bags of clothes and seven full clothing racks for Dress for Success. More than 160 people attended the happy hour, and the event raised more than $4,000 in financial donations. (*Dress for Success is an organization that provides professional clothing, interview skills, and career coaching to disadvantaged women.)
Versique also partners with Simon Says Give, a local nonprofit founded to provide birthday parties, school supplies, and leadership development for kids in need. Versique regularly participates in fundraising events benefiting Simon Says Give’s cause, most recently sponsoring a table for (and modeling in) SSG’s first Annual Fashion Show Gala and helping volunteers pack more than 4,000 backpacks during their High Five for Supplies event.
Additionally, impromptu giving opportunities arise throughout the year organically, initiated by Versique’s employees. For example, during almost every major sporting championship, including March Madness, the Masters, and NCAA, Versique employees host a pool/bracket and donate 50% of the winnings to local organizations.
Through becoming a member of CVC-TC, Versique has made invaluable connections with similar-minded organizations. The dedication of the community as a whole to volunteering has further inspired Versique’s employees to offer their time, skills, and financial support wherever possible. Being part of a group that is purposely focused on building a better community is truly special and of indescribable impactful.
